Composite Charts, Davison and Coalescent charts
The Composite chart represents the relationship between two individuals based on their combined (composite) midpoints. The Composite chart is composed of the combined near midpoints for each planet in the two charts. In other words, the zodiac position for the planet Mars in each chart is found and the midpoint between them determined. This midpoint is then entered into the composite chart as the position for Mars. This procedure is followed for all planets. The resulting chart is the composite chart for the two individuals.

Win*Star can calculate two types of Composite chart...

...the Midpoint-Cusp version ...and the Derived-Cusp version:
In the first, the midpoint cusps from both natal charts are used to determine the planetary positions. In the derived version, the house positions are derived using the midpoint MC and the latitude of the chosen location. This is like looking up the MC (10th house cusp) in a Table of Houses and copying the rest of the cusps for the birth latitude. If you choose the Derived cusps, Win*Star asks for the location. You can find its latitude by clicking on the "Atlas" button. The latitude of the current city of residence is normally used in the calculation of the composite chart. In both charts the planets' sign positions remain exactly the same, but you can see that the Ascendant has changed almost nine degrees.

These same charts can be displayed in a two-wheel chart (on one form) for easy comparison of the two different methods.
